New Faculty Orientation
Each August, an orientation program for new University faculty is held. The program is for all new faculty (all ranks of professors, lecturers, research faculty, extension agents, visiting faculty) who have begun at the University in the past twelve months. | 10:45 a.m. | Meet University of Maryland students. Receive a demographic overview of our student body and then hear from a panel of students who will talk about their impressions of and experiences at the University. |

| 12:00 noon | TENURE-TRACK FACULTY: Beginning the Journey Toward TenureReceive an introduction to campus tenure standards and to the promotion review process. Discuss strategies for getting a successful start on the road to tenure. |
| 12:00 noon | RESEARCH FACULTY: Research Administration Q & AParticipate in a round table discussion about assistance for seeking and administering grants, and information about topics such as the human subjects approval process, intellectual property issues, and conflict of interest guidelines. |
| 12:00 noon | INSTRUCTIONAL FACULTY: Teaching at Maryland Q & AAsk questions on topics like campus teaching policies and student services. Gather ideas for teaching large lecture classes, advising students, navigating systems, and other topics on the minds of new instructors. |
| Lunch and Orientation Fair | |
| 1:15 p.m. | Enjoy lunch with the other new faculty in your College, concurrent with the Orientation Fair. The fair will consist of over 40 representatives from on and off campus vendors and resources including benefits and retirement, Campus Recreation Services, Black Faculty and Staff Association, University Libraries, and the University's shuttle bus program. They will be available to provide informational materials and answer questions. |
