The campus Department of Public Safety has created an alert system to send text messages to your email, cell phone, pager, and Blackberry/Treo when emergencies occur. The messages may inform you of the emergency, update its status and provide instructions about where to go (evacuation routes), and what to do or not do. You can register for the alert on-line.
