The Office of Faculty Affairs publishes a newsletter during the academic year, including items likely to be of interest to faculty.

Departments and colleges/schools across the campus are periodically involved in accreditation efforts. These are labor intensive efforts and tend to require the collection and assembly of information about the faculty. Working on an accreditation self-study typically involves multiple requests for specific information that is needed for the accreditation reports, coupled with administrative efforts combing through CVs to find specific information.

The Big Ten Academic Alliance has been awarded the Mellon Academic Leadership Fellow grant to develop the next generation of academic leaders in the humanities.

We are delighted to welcome Ursula Gorham as the new Associate Director for Faculty Initiatives, overseeing policy and procedural matters governing PTK and other non-tenure-track faculty. She comes to the Office of Faculty Affairs from the College of Information Studies (the iSchool), where she served as the director of the Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) program and taught a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses focused on information access and information literacy.
The 2023 Annual Activity Report submission process officially opened on January 16, 2024. All tenured and tenure-track faculty members must complete and submit their 2023 Annual Activity Report by March 15, 2024. Many units will require Professional Track (PTK) faculty members to submit these reports as well. All benefits-eligible PTK faculty will have access to 2023 Annual Activity Reporting using the Workflow function within Faculty Success.

The Big Ten Academic Alliance is sponsoring the inaugural CommUNITYten workshop to advance the careers of women in medicine and biomedical science throughout the Big Ten.

The Faculty Staff Assistance Program (FSAP) is a free and confidential assessment, referral, coaching, consultation, and short-term counseling service available to all full and part-time employees of the University of Maryland.
